Abstract

Public Library is for general public meant for increasing literacy level in all spheres in human society. Though Odisha Public Library legislation act has been enacted in the year of 2001, the real development of public libraries and the establishment of district, Talukas (Blocks) and village Libraries in all districts of Odisha has become a myth. The premier public library in Odisha which is y called as Harekrushna Mahtab (HKM) State Library has not been good enough for solving the literacy problems by becoming an aid in the educational systems in Odisha. The main purpose of this article is to find out the common problems and the basic amenities of addressed by the employees of this library for the upgradation of public libraries in India in general and HKM State library in particular.
